Gangster System: I Will Become The Greatest Gangster!

Chapter 17 Reasoning

"So... you did your background research on me," I commented, deciding internally that I would stay away from her once I could leave.

Angela was a wild cop, who clearly had a strong sense of justice, but was also insane and unpredictable.

Meanwhile, I was planning on becoming a criminal, forming a gang, and eventually becoming the greatest gangster of them all, so we were bound to be against each other in the future.

And the less she knew of me and kept tabs on me, the better.

"Yes I did, so explain. I already stuck my neck out, saving you and hiding you from the cops, so you will either tell me the truth, or I might change my mind about keeping you out of my report."

Her response was stern as she glared straight into my eyes.

She felt as though she was in a position of power, but she was surprised to see me smile and observe that I was still calm.

"First of all, I am a minor and you have been holding me at your apartment for over 3 days and injecting my body with drugs. I am half naked and woke up to two women peering over me. And I believe you\'ve already given your report, so if you were to make any edits, it would be you who would be getting into trouble. I am just a young man that was at the wrong places at the wrong time," I said as I acted innocent and flashed her a smile.

She didn\'t know how to respond and was lost for words as she looked at me with both awe and annoyance in her eyes.

"How about this? I will answer your question if you answer mine. Then, at the end of today, I will leave and you will never have to see me again," I suggested.

With no other choice, Angela accepted, and all the leverage that she thought she had disappeared.

Hearing our exchange from the kitchen, Bella chuckled cutely to herself before mumbling, "Angela seems to have met her match."

Calling out to us, stopping us from getting deeper into our conversation, "Before that. I have some rules. My patient is not to move from that sofa for the rest of the day and he can only leave once I dismiss him after I get back from work. But if I decide that you aren\'t fit enough to leave, you will stay as long as I decide."

I nodded my head and Angela reassured her that I would be staying there, as the two of us quietly watched her leave.

"Bella is so nice, right? Unlike some people," I commented.

"Watch yourself. She isn\'t here to protect you."

"Police officer threatens to harm an injured minor that she is holding captive," I narrated, pretending to be a news reporter.

Tutting in response, she urged me to begin explaining my side of the story.

"Alright, alright. Basically, those assholes hit my mother and destroyed her stall, so I went after them to get revenge. They had been forcing \'protection fees\' from her and many others for a long time, but this time they went too far. And I\'m sure you know, I am very protective over my mother..." I said to her as my face distorted for a split second.

Clearing my throat, I continued, "The rest you saw for yourself."

"That sounds pretty honest, but how are you so good at fighting and..." but before she could finish, I stopped her from asking anything else.

"What did we say? One question each. It\'s my turn now," I interrupted.

"The Oriental Bar, the report, and everything to do with what happened. Was I in the report? Did they get a blood sample? What exactly happened at your end at your police station?"

"That\'s not fair. You asked so many questions in one," she moaned.

"Just answer, and I will answer whatever questions you have for me. I don\'t have much to hide, and you already have all my information."

"Ugh. Fine. Basically, you have nothing to worry about and you were very lucky..."

"The Oriental Bar was conveniently set on ablaze soon after you escaped. When everyone rushed to get out of there after the commotion that was caused, which was also what caused me to storm in, the few operating the kitchen left the oven and a few other appliances on. And since it is an old building, mostly made of wood, by the time the firefighters arrived, it was too late to salvage anything from it," she revealed.

"Meanwhile, the trail of blood that you left on the street was cleaned away by the heavy rain we\'ve had over the past few days. And I, along with the Black Hand Gang members, mentioned you in the report, but as a masked man that we didn\'t get a good look at," she continued.

Heaving a sigh of relief, it seemed as though I truly had lucked out, and all the things I had been worried about had solved themselves.

"You are one lucky bastard," she commented.

However, everything just felt too good, and when things went my way, it made me paranoid as something bad always followed a streak of luck.

Seeing how I reacted, she couldn\'t help but smile slightly and after everything, she had no reason to hold any resentment towards me, and on the contrary, seemed to pity me.

"Unfortunately, their boss managed to get away and all traces of him disappeared," she added after a few seconds of silence.

The boss of the Black Hand Gang certainly was smart and cautious, unlike what would expect from his appearance and operations that were all over the place.

And even with the description that Angela and the other gang members had given, it was unlikely he would be found anytime soon, and without any traces to follow; he had gotten away scot-free.

But then, hearing all the medical reports from all the other members, I felt satisfied with the revenge that I had been able to get for my mother and others that had suffered under them.

All of them had severe concussions, and two of them were severely injured. One that had been stabbed in the abdomen, and the Crazy Slasher, who had his jaw broken, then his face smashed.

As for the one shot by the boss of the Black Hand Gang, he had died.

The police station that served at was in disarray and for a death to occur and for there to be no leads or evidence gathered, they were definitely going to get scolded about it.

But Angela seemed relieved that she didn\'t get into any trouble, and other than the week of leave and the scolding she received from her captain for her recklessness, she hadn\'t suffered any formal punishment.

Everything had turned out well, but it was clear that we both weren\'t satisfied with that result for our own reasons.
