Chapter 53 Unexpected Opponent
Taking a moment to think of an answer, wanting to think of a fighter name that he actually liked, Achara suggested, "The Unstoppable Titan."
Xavier shook his head before responding, "Our other friend can use that name. It suits them more than me. But I like \'The Unstoppable\' part."
"Hmmm... The Unstoppable Beast," he decided, wanting it to be a memorable name that struck fear in his opponents and would also get him more fans.
The more people came to watch and placed bets on his match, the more money the fight club would generate, and the more money he assumed he would be paid.
"A beast, hmph. We\'ll see."
"You\'ll be fighting after your friend, and her opponent is already here and was going to fight someone else, but I\'m sure she would be eager to fight you after hearing that you\'re here," the one-eyed demon said before getting up to leave.
However, before he did, Xavier had one more thing to tell him.
"Prepare two more opponents for me. After I beat my first and warm up, I want to fight two more."
Xavier sounded crazy, especially to Achara, who was sure that he was feeling fatigued after the training he had already done, but the one-eyed demon just snickered.
"Alright. But, beating your first opponent won\'t be as easy as taking down little Marco," he said before lighting a cigar and walking off.
Blowing a puff of smoke onto Xavier as he walked past him, he was clearly looking down on him and was putting him in his place as he laughed and went off.
Walking around smoking on his cigar, he was walking around as if he owned the place, and the fact of that matter was that he literally did.
The number of people that would dare to even talk to him directly were few, let alone those that could afford to offend him, so it was no wonder that he could act that way.
And following after him were his elite guards who were with him at all times, and just seeing how large the underground fight club was and all the money he could see lying around, his wealth was clearly abundant.
While he definitely took his safety seriously, always having at least 5 armed men with him at all times.
He seemed to be even more heavily protected than the president, but with his power and influence, it was to be expected and Xavier knew that what he was seeing was only the surface of how deeply rooted the Wolf Gang was.
And to think there were two other executives that he had to account for.
But, weirdly, he felt excited and was looking forward to what the future had in store for him.
He would make his life as a gangster work one way or another, and for the time being, he was mentally preparing himself for his fights.
"Please follow me. I will lead you to your VIP waiting rooms, from which you can watch the battles that are taking place. And you will be called for your fights soon," one of the guards said to the two of them respectfully.
Achara was expecting such treatment since she had already proven her skills and was quite well known in the fight club as one of the greatest prospects on the rise.
While Xavier had also shown what he was capable of, and they had been instructed to treat them as guests, just like the other fighters, so such conduct was to be expected.
And as they followed after the man who led them through the surprisingly large fight club, Xavier was struggling to mask his amazement.
It was hard to believe that such a large place could go unnoticed, and it was very likely that the NYPD was just paid off to ignore it, but the sheer number of people there was unbelievable.
Many covered their faces, but most were rowdy and enjoying themselves, drinking, smoking and gambling as they enthralled themselves in the intense battles.
And that was only those that could be seen out in the open.
The underground fight club was structured in such a way that there were many private watching rooms that could observe the battles from above without being seen into, and there appeared to be many of them.
So it was very likely that there were a lot of rich and powerful individuals watching such gruesome battles anonymously for their own entertainment, and seeing the infrastructure they had built, Xavier couldn\'t help but be impressed.
\'One day this will all be mine,\' he thought to himself with a smile under his mask as he entered the waiting room they had been led to.
-
Around the VIP area were many armed guards, so starting any trouble there would be suicide, but it also showed how premium and secure the VIP watching rooms were.
And the treatment was nothing less than first class.
"Feel free to request anything with the buzzer within your room, and there will be short notice before your fights, so be ready."
Nodding their heads, they closed the door behind them and Xavier made himself comfortable on a wide leather sofa as he watched the fight that was taking place.
Achara joined him, and Xavier could see that she had something on her mind and she appeared to be anxious.
"You can still back ou..."
"No. I\'m not nervous about my fight. I\'m just thinking about how on earth we are supposed to be able to rival the Wolf Gang?"
"Everything will work out fine. All in due time. Just enjoy the process and trust in me," he reassured her.
His words shouldn\'t have made her feel any less worried, but somehow it made her feel as though everything truly would work out, as she watched the fight that was taking place unfold.
It was a close battle between two large men and blood splattered everywhere, and apart from small gloves that barely did anything to dampen the power of their blows, it was a complete brawl with no rules.
Looking to her side to see Xavier\'s reaction to the horrible battle, Achara was surprised to see that he was very calm and relaxed.
But then remembering the gun wound, the knife wounds and how fearless he was, it was to be expected he was nonchalant.
Minutes later, much sooner than they expected, Achara was informed that her battle was next.
But after hearing the announcement of who her opponent was, her heart sank...
