Chapter 198 198. Phobos
Chapter 198 198. Phobos
"But tonight, it all changes. I\'ll do whatever it takes for my father to acknowledge me, Phobos, as his son."
"And as for Ares, don\'t even bother looking for him because you can\'t, he will come to you when the time is right."
He walked towards Kevin while slowly assuming his demonic form, but this time his crimson-colored body slowly turned black, blending in with the blackness of the night.
Phobos blended in with the darkness right after uttering those words.
For years, he had been looked down upon by not only his father and brother but also, most of the immortals around him.
Ares even gave him a simple task to do, indicating the little trust and belief he had in him.
Phobos was tasked with impersonating Lucky so that he could get closer to Lucille through Max.
But Lucille had been able to see through his disguise, and that was why she vanished in the first place, due to the knowledge that some of the demons and immortals working for Ares had known of her current location.
Phobos knew he was the reason why Lucille hid herself and completely concealed her aura from other immortals. She did it to protect her child, Kevin from ever being discovered by Ares.
Ares knew of this fact as well, and his disappointment in his son simply continued to increase as the years went by.
Hence the reason why Phobos took it upon himself to scour the street at night in search for Lucille so that he could right the wrong he had made.
He tried every means necessary to find her but all of his efforts were in vain.
He killed and enslaved countless weaker demons, forcing them to make a contract with him so that he could use their experience to grow stronger and one day be acknowledged by Ares and Deimos.
___
Phobos cast a spell, causing countless numbers of purple-colored magic circles to glow on the ground.
Kevin staggered backwards as he watched the magic circle erupt in purple flames while numerous demonic growls could be heard from within the purple flames.
And in the next few seconds, small little demons with an insatiable thirst and hunger for blood and flesh stormed out of the magic circles and pushed one another aside so they could be the first to have a taste of Kevin.
An evil grin bloomed on Phobos\' face as he watched the starving demons hurry to satiate their hunger by feeding on Kevin.
He was currently invisible and standing behind all the demons storming towards Kevin.
Since he was referred to as the weakest demon in all of Elysium, his only redeeming ability was his power to turn invisible when fighting against an enemy.
However, this ability was useless against other gods because only mortals were unable to detect him if he used his skill. Therefore, the skill was useless against opponents who were immortals.
His strength was significantly lesser than the average immortal as well, but no human alive could fight against him and win.
Although, his previous battle against Kevin could be described as a battle between an immortal and the strongest human.
Still, Phobos was unable to completely win against him, seeing as both of them ended up being severely injured.
Deep down, Phobos knew that the moment Kevin activated his immortal mode, the battle would end in an instant and the winner would be Kevin.
And that\'s why he opted to use the demons he had fought and made a contract with, so they would help him weaken Kevin. Then he would covertly disguise himself as one of the demons and strike Kevin from an angle he wouldn\'t expect once he was exhausted.
Since he wasn\'t good at direct combat, Phobos chose to improve himself by entering into contracts with lower demons which he would use as his source of strength.
He did this with the hope of surpassing the expectations other immortals had of him and to prove the doubters wrong as well.
And now he was going to weaken Kevin through the demons he had made contracts with.
Phobos knew that Kevin recently unlocked his previous immortal abilities. Although, he didn\'t know how Kevin was able to accomplish such a feat.
Still, he was confident that it would take a few months or years for Kevin to completely become used to welding his abilities as he once did before he left Elysium.
This meant that he had to end Kevin now and bring his head to Ares while hoping that this would be enough to draw Lucille out of hiding.
If this were to happen, then maybe Ares would finally acknowledge him as a god as well as one of his sons.
Finally, with his mind now made up, Phobos yelled and urged the demons to feast on Kevin.
He knew that Kevin would be able to handle a few of them on his own but even an inexperienced god would find it a bit difficult to handle more than five hundred demons at once, not to mention a demigod.
However, Kevin wasn\'t perturbed by the five hundred demons he was up against.
Now that he knew a lot about himself and his past, added to that the newly discovered fact that his mother was strong enough to protect herself, Kevin longed to see her even more.
And with a smile on his face, Kevin summoned a glowing red healing potion and swigged it down his throat, completely healing his previous wounds. Due to the purple flames erupting from the magic circles around him, a few of his shadows were cast around him and Cerberus leaped out of one of his shadows, feeding on the few demons that were lunging towards Kevin.
A large stream of molten lava surged out of Cerberus\' mouth, burning all the demons that came his way.
His flame-coated body grew larger and two more heads grew on either side of the first one, with each emitting red, green and blue flames respectively, thereby burning all the demons in front of them to a crisp while the screeching sound of demons wailing in agony filled up the street.
