Chapter 246 - Earning Another Trust?
"That\'s not enough reason, Uncle."
First slowly shook her head, making Eron feel a guilt trip. Her eyes then rolled towards Teren before she began walking closer to his back and whispering.
"You\'re the Devil Himself? The Merciless Torturer?"
"I don\'t know about the second one."
Teren glanced at first who invaded his personal space. Ivan wanted to say something, however, looking at the fire that burns within First\'s eyes, those words got stuck in his throat.
"So you are the Devil Himself. I\'ve always been wanting to meet you."
Teren felt heat emanating from First. He had met a few women who are not reserved towards their desires, First seemed to be one of them.
However, this desire... it\'s a little different.
"My little brother, Eight, you know him? The one you picked whose eyes?"
"Because he was ogling at someone he shouldn\'t even have perverse thought of?"
"..."
The heat dispersed, making Ivan stop his jump. He was about to stop First or even their fireproof mansion would be burned by this girl. After hearing what Teren said, First frowned, and instead of starting a fight. She opened her ears and sat beside Teren with a proper posture and a little distance.
"I\'d like to hear more. Even though I treat Eight like a little brother, I\'m not someone who will justify one\'s wrongdoing just because we are close."
First pressed her last word as she glanced at Eron which he shrank a little.
"I don\'t know what to add, that\'s everything that happened."
"You think I will believe that? Will you not make any defense regarding your sins of blinding someone for the rest of his life?!"
A short fuse within her sparked that almost fueled the fire within First\'s eyes. At this moment, Ivan intervened by saying-
"First, Teren is still a guest. Show some respect."
"And why would I?"
First glared even at Ivan, the current figurehead of the Drago House and virtually their king.
"It\'s because if you don\'t give respect, you won\'t get any in return."
Teren calmly said before taking a sip from his tea.
"That\'s a lot of nerves who harmed one of my family member."
First threateningly smiled.
"Sorry about that, he harrassed the wrong girl."
"... who exactly is this girl? If you don\'t answer correctly, I might burn you here and now."
The room temperature increased in a spike when Ivan stepped in and shouted.
"Stop! First! What are you doing!? Do you have any idea how important the documents are within here!? Didn\'t we specifically said that this is one room anyone cannot use their abilities!? I\'m not an exception, so why are you acting like this!?"
Towards this series of shouting, First\'s head retreated as the room temperature went back.
"Ah... I forgot... sorry about that."
"Can you leave now?"
Ivan asked with an angry look. Before, he would not step in but rules are rules. If they were about to be broken, he as the leader of the Drago House has the power to step in and exercise his authority. First have no power against this even as the daughter of the original leader, their niece, or their most talented youngster.
"I will not do it again..."
She stood up and lowered her head.
"I hope that\'s true. If one caught fire in here, everything will be set ablaze, remember that."
Ivan spoke before glancing at Teren to see what\'s his reaction. But disappointingly, Teren has no reaction to this.
\'I just said something that revealed one of our so-called weaknesses. Is he just that good at acting?\' thought Ivan. He would be surprised if Teren is not planning something malicious in his head right now.
"But, Uncle Ivan, this man is the cause for Eight\'s permanent blindness, shouldn\'t you at least give any sort of punishment?"
First asked which Ivan shook his head.
"No, we cannot do that. As you know, we are there and we saw that Eight might have really harassed a girl."
"... tsk! I will ask Eight about this! But depending on the severity of his actions, your actions will be justified or not."
First pointed at Teren before walking out with heavy stomps.
After she slammed the door closed, Ivan shook his head while sighing.
"Sorry about that. Regarding the rumors, that girl felt that you should be put to justice while others were fearing you. You could say that she\'s righteously brave. But sometimes, she\'s too braced and would act without thinking about the consequences."
He explained.
"I understand. I think I\'ve done something that the man didn\'t deserve, after all. How about this? I will heal that man, Eight\'s eyes for free, and with that, I hope I will have your trust."
Teren explained his suggestion which made Ivan think that this was too good to be true. There might be a catch.
"I think trust is already a heavy price, right? You would give me more freedom and privilege within here if I have your trust."
Teren said while thinking;
\'You even set a convenient setting. Why would you bring me into the room that has important assets like these books around us? That girl may not know but I know that most of the books here are empty.\'
When the maid reached out for the button, he noticed that with the size of the book, there shouldn\'t be any space there for her hand to enter, yet, it did. Therefore, it\'s either that the ratio of the book\'s size is all wrong or it has no contents at all.
Furthermore, as a family that has fire as one of their main abilities, why would they use papers for documentation of important things? At least, in the modern days, they should\'ve been using computers to store data, right?
People as rich as them should have a vast amount of data that they have somewhere stored and it\'s surely is not there.
"Hm, that\'s true. I don\'t like the idea of subjecting Eight for experimentation but the benefits are something that I couldn\'t deny. Okay, I will bring you to him."
Ivan clasped his hands and the maid opened the door again before walking out to prepare their vehicle.
"Also, I think that keeping your identity a secret is for the better, is that fine?"
"That\'s perfect." Teren replied.
Soon, the siblings, Teren, and the maid driving the car went to the near facility detached from the mansion. Behind some arranged trees, there was a medical facility. At this point, it was no longer shocking if they have their own personal mall and amusement park.
Reaching their destination, Ivan along with Eron led Teren to the special care unit room where they encountered the girl that Teren found troubling again.
"Uncles, why are you here?"
She asked with a deep frown.
"Before that, what did Eight say?"
"That spoiled brat said that he was just a little interested and swears that he didn\'t do anything perverse."
She explained as she glared at Teren.
"Well, whatever the reason is, Teren is here to undo what he did to earn our respect."
Ivan replied which led First to ponder what he just said.
"Undo what he did...? Will he treat Eight\'s eyes!?"
The shock when she realized it sent an electrifying currency that coursed through her entire body.
"He will do that!? And can he even do that!?"
She asked in doubt which neither Ivan nor Eron blamed her for thinking that way. Eron didn\'t technically trust Teren. It was just a desperate measure for a chance to make their true leader recover.
"We will see about that."
Ivan said as he too was unsure, but he tried not to show it.
"Then, we\'ll go now."
"Wait, I want to see."
She said with a nervous tone.
There was no reason to decline so Ivan and Eron let her follow her while First went to Teren and asked.
"Do you really have the ability to heal Eight\'s eyes? If you can do that, I\'m willing to forgive you."
"I\'m not actually sure, I\'ll just see if I can."
"..."
First didn\'t say anything as she knew that any words should be spoken only after the results if Teren did heal Eight or not.
"Who\'s there?"
With bandages around his eyes, Eight asked who entered his room as he could hear more footsteps than he should have.
"Leave me alone, this needs concentration."
Teren said which made the other hesitant. Meanwhile, a cold shiver ran through Eight\'s back.
"W-w-who\'s that!? Tell me your name!"
He freaked out. After all the rumors he had been spreading, he knew that most of them are true and his trauma was real. Teren\'s voice was a little familiar to him. This made him panic.
"Wait, Eight! It\'s just the new doctor! We went here to check on your eyes and he will see if there\'s anything he can do."
First immediately calmed him down which he did before sighing in relief.
"O-oh, so it\'s just a new doctor. Hmph! How much will I say this!? This blindness will never be treated! That monster who caused this is akin to an Evil God! Only another God can heal me!"
He threw a little tantrum that seemed a little unreasonable.
